That almost sounds... I dunno. Illegal. Anti-trust? Fuck if I know, I just hear this stuff on the news sometimes. [ cue one girl who is mostly informed by headlines these days and less by actual research and hard facts. like that isn't obvious. ]

[ Yin takes a deep breath of fresh evening air. ] "Most"?

Well we usually replace the executive team with our own people, and a lot of the admin shit is redundant since we'd be taking care of it.

[She clears her throat again.]

We try to relocate whoever we can since they're usually competent, but the people who dig their heels in are shown the door.

[She takes another drag, longer this time. Once she knows what to expect, it's a little easier to maintain composure.]

Not in the slightest, but at least his eyes aren't on me 24/7 anymore. Even if I'm still under his thumb, this is the most freedom I've ever had.

[Why do you have to joke right now when she's getting so serious? Vera's temperament collapses like a house of cards and the heiress is reduced to a fit of giggles.]

[ try as she might to roll along with her own comment, which was actually a suggestion she would not put past an overbearing father with deeper pockets than the Grand Canton, Yin couldn't hold back her own laughter either. Vera's sound effects sealed the deal. ]

[Snicker.] God, can you just go... fuck yourself? Here I was trying so hard to be sad and dramatic and you had to go make me laugh.

[One more quick puff before she passes the vape back to its owner.]

Well, excuuuuse me, princess. [ Yin takes the vape back and just, wipes it off on her dress before tucking it back into the sleeve. ] That's it. I'm cutting you off. If you have any more people are definitely going to know you're on something.

Ugh, rude much? [She giggles again. God she can't stop.]

I'm totally fine, all it did was make me hungry.

That's me. And you're not totally fine. Look where you are, and what you're doing, and who it's with. [ there's a lopsided smile. ] You and I both know we'll be at each others throats again when this wears off so just enjoy it while it lasts.

[ Yin cranes her head back a moment and closes her eyes. she can still hear the music filtering out through the walls of the venue and though the acoustics suck it's enough to get a feel for the important part: the rhythm.

on impulse, Yin holds her hand out. ] Dance with me.

Quit it with that shit. [She smiles.] I don't hate you, you just piss me off.

[Something between that statement and Yin asking for a dance sends her into another giggle fit, maybe it was both of them, it might have been neither. Amazingly, she goes along with it, reaching out and taking the taller girl's hand before giving a respectful curtsy.]
