First nickname I give you sticks 'til a better one comes 'round. That's how I roll. [ y'know, in case Vera thought she was dealing with anything other than a bit of an asshole. ]

[ the comment causes Yin to miss a step. she makes a face. ] Shit. I almost feel dirty.

[ she manages to work her way back toward a grin. ] One: I don't think he means it as sarcastically as I do.

I can assure you, he means it very sarcastically.

[The hand on Yin's shoulder moves to her hip, giving it a gentle press to correct her now-slanted stance.]

Stop giving us stuff in common, it's creeping me out. [ meaning Yin and Vera's father. ] I'm too good tall to be related anyway.

My father's like six-two. [She says with a deadpan look.]

My mother is... not much taller than I am, unfortunately. [Sigh.] At least I had someone to show me the magic of heels at a young age.

And you went all-in on that. [ Yin kept her gaze downward even as they moved. ] What are those, like, four inches? Five?

...Yeah, five. [She mumbles into her chest. Even with the extra boost, she stands barely at 5'4".]

[ Yin has the mental image of where Vera would stand if she were barefoot right now. she snickers. ]

[ now she's laughing. ] True. But only giant blonde palm trees can do this — [ "this" being taking Vera's hand up and holding it high as she directs her into a spin without really having to stretch too far. ]

[She squeals, giggling as she spins with Yin's instruction before snapping back into position, leaning back slightly should her partner like to dip.]

[ that was a thought, but there's no way she would be able to maintain her balance with that. Vera pulling back caught Yin by surprise and before she knew it she tugged hard on the girl's hand to compensate, pulling the two close and halting the dance itself. ] Whoa, whoa, easy there.

Sorry. [She grins up at the taller girl.] I get a little carried away sometimes.

Yeah you'd be pretty easy to carry, even without being under the influence. [ Yin sniffed. ] What do you weigh, like, a buck-ten soaking wet?

Ugh, how rude can you get? Don't you know not to ask a lady how much she weighs?

[ Yin stopped short and screwed her expression up as she thought long and hard. ] ...damn, this sucks. You can't just give me a good reason to take my one solid nickname for you away like that. Now what am I gonna call you?

"Vera" has a nice ring to it.

[ smirk. ] Look, we might be dancing, but don't get ahead of yourself.
